Rod is currently the General Manager of Safety and Wellbeing at Australia Post and has worked as the Head of Safety in several large organisations covering a range of industries from Logistics, Public Transport, Food Manufacturing, Health, Waste Management, Oil and Gas. Rod helps transform organisational cultures and capability that delivers tangible and sustainable safety performance. Rod started his career in general business roles before embracing the opportunity to impact people’s lives through a safety career. Rod has been a strong advocate for Safety to mature as a profession is a supporter of formal education to complement life/work experience. Rod has been sought after to contribute his Safety experience by authors of chapters for the Body of Knowledge project including chapters on Safety Culture, Risk and Manual Handling. Rod has presented to the Federal Government inquiry on Road Safety in 2021 as GM Safety at Australia Post. Rod is passionate about lifelong learning and mentoring the next generation to take the profession forward. Rod has reported to boards in many of his organisations and has previously been a safety advisor to the Vision Australia board and a member of the Safety Board at Harbour City Ferries when he was GM Safety at Transdev Australasia. Rod has been a judge on the National Safety Council of Australia annual safety awards since 2019.
