David and Dr Beth, discuss the importance of psychosocial risk management and resilience in organizations, focusing on the psychological aspects of work that could cause psychological harm rather than just physical outcomes.
Over the past 20 years there has been a shift in the focus of occupational or work health and safety risk management. Traditional occupational safety concerns focus primarily on physical hazards, whereas psychological and social aspects of our workplaces present an emergent risk.

Imagine if every worker had access to a personal injury prevention coach, just like our sporting stars do. Instead of a one-size-fits-all training program, that coach could consider the worker's individual movement habits and their actual work role, and teach them how to prevent future injuries.
Computers are doing this right now, at scale.
Imagine if a manager and injured worker could monitor the amount of work that is actually being completed every day, as a rehabilitation program is enacted, to help prevent re-injury.
Computers are also doing this right now.
Our team has been on an eight-year journey to translate the technology and methodology used in elite sports, into an effective, evidence-based (and sustainable) workplace solution.
Join us for a deep dive into the health science that sits behind the data, and an examination of real case studies from workplaces. Including the real costs involved in implementing a wearable sensor program.

Regardless of the industry where you are in the world, your people are essential to your organization’s success and sustainability. Protecting their psychological safety is a critical business strategy and has many benefits. The Mental Harm Prevention Roadmap created by Workplace Safety & Prevention Services in partnership with Howatt HR, is a website offering free online accessible tools and resources to help employers create and implement sustainable action plans, strategies, programs and policies to implement psychological health and safety in the workplace. The Mental Harm Prevention Roadmap helps guide intentional action by employers to reduce mental harm for employees. As a user-friendly interface based on Canada’s National Standard Psychological health and safety in the workplace: Prevention, promotion, and guidance to staged implementation, the Mental Harm Prevention Roadmap was developed to offer an evidence-based approach, using height (8) building blocks to advance psychological health and safety in any work environments:
1) Foundation 2) Support 3) Planning 4) Leadership 5) Culture 6) Connections 7) Prevention 8) Excellence
This poster will describe how the Roadmap to mental Harm Prevention facilitates the process for psychological health and safety champions to make decisions on where to focus and develop concrete action steps taking into account their unique environment. It will provide practical tools in the creation of mental health strategies required to reflect the specific the needs of organizations and to be scalable as organizations can be at different points on the road to a psychologically safe workplace.
